Making the Most of Your Kitchen Remodel
There is no room in your house more interesting, or has more potential, than the kitchen. The kitchen can be the crowning glory of your home. And it should be. This is the room that all the guests see. This is the room where you live your life. When you grab your first coffee in the morning at the start of a new day, you should be in a room that you love. So, with that in mind, here are some tips to get your kitchen remodel started in the right direction.
- Get Your Ideas Together: The best part of redoing a kitchen is letting your dreams go wild. When you first begin collecting your ideas, don’t put any limits on yourself. Don’t look at prices, don’t say things are impractical. At this stage you are learning about what you like. Once you have looked at hundreds of kitchen designs, and you have considered your pallet and material preferences, you will start to understand what your dream kitchen will be. It is only after you have gotten to this point, that you should let reality and budget guide some of your choices.
- Find Your Designer: Now you are ready to find your designer. Your designer will be mad at me for telling you to come up with your own ideas, but don’t worry they will get over it. Knowing what you want will give you confidence later when there are hard choices to make. When choosing a designer, make sure you see some of their work and maybe check a reference or two. Designing is an art, and you need to find the artist you can work with. Once you have made your choice, it is time to let their creativity take over. Designers have a wealth of experience. They will know how to take what you want and make it even better.
- Choose Your Materials and Appliances: Now it is time to put it all together. Make your choices based on quality and reviews, not just name brands. Kitchen designers will have their favourite materials and products, and this might save you some money too.
The next stage is to back away and let the experts work their magic. It is unlikely that your supervision will be needed, but you will probably be called in occasionally to make some decisions. The best thing you can do at this point is relax and dream about that first cup of coffee in your dream kitchen.
